Learn about Apps for Good in your area with our Regional Roadshows

Here at Apps for Good, we are proud to work with schools from across the UK, from the beaches of Cornwall to countryside of Northern Ireland. From inner city London to the highlands of Scotland, we are a far spun community. The nature of our online training platform ensures that no school misses out on delivering our course because of its location. While we’re proud of our far flung reach, we are aware that there is still an appetite for in person training and support and that’s why we’ve launched our series of Regional Roadshows, supported by our first Education Community & Outreach Partner, Samsung.

Natalie and Emily of our Education Community Team recently kicked off our UK Regional Roadshows, in Scotland, holding events in Glasgow & Edinburgh. The theme of our first Regional Roadshows was ‘Bringing the real world into the classroom’ and focused on the use of industry Experts in the classroom and how to make the best of student led learning. Attendees, a mix of experienced and new Apps for Good Educators, were given the chance to learn more about the Apps for Good program through our introductory presentation, followed by individual group working sessions. Educators were also given the opportunity to network and share best practice, with copious amounts of tea, coffee and biscuits to sweeten the deal.

Attendees at our Glasgow Roadshow were fortunate enough to hear from our partner organisations Code Club and CoderDojo Scotland, while attendees in Edinburgh got to chat to Apps for Good Fellow Tanya Howden.

To round off the evening attendees learnt more about the 2016 Apps for Good Awards, with a run through of the entry process and an outline of the competition journey. We look forward to receiving lots of entries from Scotland and across the UK come Awards time!

We’d really like to thank all our Apps for Good Educators and our external partners who helped to make our Scottish Regional Roadshows such a success, including our venues the Mitchell Library and Wester Hailes Education Centre. We would also like to say a particular thanks to Samsung for their continued support to help ensure our Educators are confident when delivering the Apps for Good course!
